Free admission to Exploris helps shapes the future of Strangford Lough 2nd February 2012
On Saturday 4th February, Exploris is offering free admission to all visitors as part of a publuc awareness roadshow on the Strangford Lough and Lecale Area of Natural Beauty. The free day will also launch the start of the aquarium's 25th birthday year.
Exploris Aquarium plays host to the first 'People and Landscape' Roadshow this weekend (4th & 5th of February) and, as a way of encouraging people to engage with the environment, Exploris is offering free admission to all visitors on Saturday 4th February.
The 'People & Landscape' Roadshow is the first exhibition on the Strangford and Lecale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and includes amazing underwater footage of the lough, a gigantic model basking shark, and stunning photography. Families can build their own heritage pyramid or participate in seaweed art workshops.
This event is run by the Strangford Lough & Lecale Partnership as part of the development of a Management Strategy for the Strangford Lough & Lecale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Part of the roadshow's aim is to give people the opportunity to have their views and ideas heard. Helena Challinor, General Manager at Exploris, revealed “This is the public's chance to help shape the future of the lough, its heritage and our place in it. By offering a free admission day we are hoping that everyone, young or old will come and participate.”
