Conger Release Update 9th May 2011
The planned (and televised) release of our three largest Conger Eels went incredibly smoothly and to everyones amazement was completed by lunchtime today. All three eels were weighed prior to release, the three weights being 70lbs, 104lbs and a whopping 130lbs. The largest eel was a good eight feet in length. Incidently the Irish record for a line caught conger currently stands at 72lbs.
The whole operation was filmed by the BBC with Darryl Grimason presenting (and participating) as part of their 'Wild Week Live' event which will be broadcast on TV and radio from the 21st May, it is expected that the footage from the Conger release will be broadcast on the evening of the 27th.
